While playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes Troy Smith won several national awards – the Heisman, Davey O’Brien Award, and the Walter Camp Award. Furthermore he was named a Consensus All-American. Smith was considered a winner and a leader by his teammates, as evidenced by the fact that he was voted Buckeyes MVP. Smith led Ohio State Buckeyes to a Fiesta Bowl win (2006). Eventually Smith and the Buckeyes made a BCS national championship appearance (2007) but fell to the Florida Gators.
